Terms of Use

These terms explain how FestForge can be used, what our festival strategy guidance does and does not do, and where responsibility remains with the filmmaker.

Last updated: 30 May 2026

Independent guidance only

FestForge is an independent organisation. We are not owned, operated, endorsed by, sponsored by or officially connected with any film festival, awards body, submission platform, film, filmmaker, distributor, sales agent or festival organiser unless we expressly say so in writing.

No acceptance guarantee

We do not and cannot guarantee that any film will be accepted, selected, screened, nominated, awarded, reviewed, refunded, promoted or otherwise successful at any festival or event.

Verify before submitting

Festival rules, deadlines, fees, eligibility requirements, premiere policies, category availability and organiser details change. You are responsible for checking the official festival materials before paying fees or making submission decisions.

Your final decision

Reports, database entries, scores, rankings, warnings and recommendations are informational strategy support. They are not professional, legal, financial, agent, distribution or festival submission advice.

1. Who these terms apply to

These Terms of Use apply when you access or use FestForge, including the website, account area, festival database, generated strategy reports, recommendation tools and related content.

By using FestForge, you agree to these terms. If you use FestForge for a company, production company, collective or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for that organisation.

2. What FestForge provides

FestForge provides informational tools that help filmmakers think through festival strategy. This may include festival shortlists, ranking logic, confidence notes, budget guidance, deadline timing, eligibility warnings, data summaries and suggested next actions.

All content is provided as a guide only. It is intended to support your own judgement, not replace it.

3. No festival, film or platform affiliation

FestForge is independent. References to festivals, awards bodies, submission platforms, films, filmmakers, organisations, brands or other third parties are for identification, commentary, data, comparison or strategy purposes only.

Those references do not mean that any third party has approved, endorsed, sponsored, partnered with, supplied data to or authorised FestForge. All third-party names, marks and materials remain the property of their respective owners.

4. No responsibility for festival outcomes

Festival selection decisions are made by the relevant festival, organiser, jury, programmer or platform. FestForge has no control over those decisions.

We are not responsible if a film is not accepted, selected, screened, awarded, refunded, acknowledged or responded to by any festival. We are also not responsible for a festival changing its rules, deadlines, fees, categories, dates, venue, status, judging process, accreditation, ownership, cancellation policy or selection criteria.

5. Accuracy and third-party information

FestForge may use public sources, third-party sources, user-provided information, automated extraction, manual review and internal scoring. Festival information can be incomplete, outdated, inaccurate, ambiguous or subject to change without notice.

We try to present useful information and confidence signals, but we do not warrant that any content is accurate, complete, current, available, suitable for your film or free from errors. You must verify the official festival rules, deadlines, eligibility requirements, fees and submission instructions before acting.

6. Your film, rights and submissions

You are responsible for the information you provide to FestForge and for keeping it accurate. This includes runtime, category, country, language, premiere status, completion date, prior screenings, rights, clearances, music, archive material, cast and crew permissions, subtitles and any eligibility-sensitive details.

You are responsible for deciding whether and where to submit, paying any submission fees, meeting deadlines, complying with festival rules and ensuring you have the rights and permissions required for your film and materials.

7. Account use

You must provide accurate account information, keep your login details secure and tell us if you believe your account has been compromised.

You must not misuse FestForge, interfere with the service, scrape or copy substantial parts of the site without permission, reverse engineer non-public systems, upload unlawful material, infringe third-party rights or use the service in a way that could harm FestForge, other users or third parties.

8. Generated reports and permitted use

Subject to payment of any applicable fees and compliance with these terms, you may use your own generated reports for your personal or internal production planning.

You must not resell, republish, commercially exploit, bulk export, train competing systems on, or present FestForge reports, scoring, data or recommendations as your own festival database or advisory product without written permission.

9. Payments and subscriptions

If paid features, subscriptions, trials or add-ons are offered, the price, billing cycle, cancellation terms and any refund information shown at checkout or in your account also apply.

Third-party payment processors may handle payments and may apply their own terms. Unless required by law or expressly stated at checkout, fees already paid are not refundable merely because a report does not lead to festival acceptance or because you choose not to submit to a recommended festival.

10. Third-party websites and services

FestForge may link to festival websites, submission platforms, social profiles, press pages, databases and other third-party services. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, fees, rules, decisions, communications or conduct.

11. Availability and changes

We may update, suspend, withdraw, limit or change any part of FestForge, including features, reports, databases, scoring methods, prices and access rules.

We may also update these terms from time to time. The updated terms apply from the date they are posted unless a later effective date is stated.

12. Disclaimers

FestForge is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, representations and conditions, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, satisfactory quality, availability and non-infringement.

Nothing on FestForge is legal, financial, tax, business, distribution, sales-agent, public-relations or professional advice. You should obtain appropriate professional advice where needed.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FestForge will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, loss of reputation, loss of goodwill, loss of data, wasted festival fees, wasted production costs, travel costs, accommodation costs or any loss arising from festival rejection, non-selection, cancellation, rule changes, inaccurate third-party information or your submission decisions.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to FestForge is limited to the greater of the amount you paid to FestForge for the affected service in the 12 months before the claim arose or GBP 100.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14. Indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify FestForge against claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of FestForge, your submissions to festivals, your film materials, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

15. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, created legal risk, misused the service, failed to pay applicable fees or used FestForge in a way that could harm the service, users or third parties.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where mandatory laws in your country or region give you additional rights that cannot be changed by contract.

If any part of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

17. Contact

Questions about these terms should be sent through the contact or support route made available on FestForge or in your account.
